D-Lab II ⁠⁠— Design, Build, Test

 

 

Course Description: D-Lab II is the second of a two-part series addressing the world’s most pressing challenges in underserved communities both domestic and abroad. Taught by Professor Kurt Kornbluth, this studio-style course focuses on the design process and prototype construction and testing. The course may have a theme (2020: Art + Engineering, 2019: Professional, etc.) or be general at the discretion of the instructor(s). 

 

Deliverables: To receive full credit, labs are to be written up and turned in 1 week after the lab. Deliverables include a working prototype, 2 design reviews, and design notebook as a deliverable. (Subject to Change)

Policy

Assignments: All assignments will be turned in as hard copies during the class period in which they are due. Final reports require a hard copy plus an electronic copy. Late work will not be accepted without prior arrangements.

Attendance: Attendance and punctuality are mandatory (you are only allowed 1 unexcused absence). Furthermore, since your work in this class has the potential to impact the lives of people around the world, we expect an appropriate level of commitment.

Laptops and Smartphones: There will be no use of phones or laptops in class without prior approval from the instructor.
