Held annually during Winter quarter, D-lab I gives students the opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary teams on tasks from real clients. Held annually during Spring quarter, D-lab II is a studio-style class that has students design, prototype, and test solutions to problems posed by community partners, real clients. Throughout the quarter, multidisciplinary students will experience practical labs, case studies, and guest speakers, helping them develop their design approaches for energy solutions. With the UC system's goal of carbon neutrality by 2025 on the horizon, PIET has teamed with campus facilities' Energy Conservation Office (ECO) to offer ZNE. Working on real problems, students will be guided through a client-focused project in energy efficiency, while simultaneously learning the landscape of renewable energy and climate neutrality on campus and worldwide.
